Houthis strike again and hit ship’s ballast tank
Drone with explosives
The Houthis attacked a ship in the Red Sea for the first time in weeks on Monday night, reports the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO).
This is a division of the British Navy that monitors developments in the region. The captain of a ship, whose identity has not yet been disclosed, reported that his vessel was hit by a maritime drone carrying explosives, causing a leak in a ballast tank. However, the ship was able to continue its voyage, and the crew remained unharmed.
Reaction to the bombs
The attack took place more than 100 kilometers off the coast of the Yemeni port of Hodeidah. On Sunday, the Israeli military conducted airstrikes on Houthi targets in that port. The new attack on the ship appears to be a response to the Israeli bombings.
