'Priority for trucks at permanent German border controls'
'Green lanes' needed
Freight traffic should be given priority at the German border in permanent border controls to stop asylum seekers. German industry association BGL demands this in a response to stricter asylum measures in our neighbouring country.

The political tug of war to the right is affecting carriers' operations. Controls have also already been introduced in the Netherlands, only they are not permanent in nature. This is a six-month trial of 'flying brigades'. In this way, the Dutch government hopes to spare the transport sector.
In Germany, sharply stricter asylum measures were adopted by the Bundestag this week, henceforth the border must be permanently guarded and monitored. Only then, without additional measures, is this going to cause problems for the transport sector on the road fears BGL (Bundesverband Güterkraftverkehr Logistik und Entsorgung).
Unpredictable
'It would then become even more difficult for truck drivers to adhere to legally prescribed driving, break and rest periods, and supply chains would only become more unpredictable,' chairman Dirk Engelhardt told German news agency DPA.
Therefore, the so-called green lanes from the corona era should be reinstated. These are a number of measures to allow trucks to cross the border faster such as checking the note of lading only after crossing the border.
