New train connection between Rotterdam terminals and Duisburg
Three times a week
HGK Intermodal has introduced a new train connection between the Duisburg Gateway West terminal and five terminals in the port of Rotterdam. The connection, called 'SchachZUG', runs three times a week and was set up to move more containers from road to rail.
The connected terminals in Rotterdam are Delta, HPD-II, APM-II, Euromax and RWG. Rail Force One provides the traction of the trains.
According to HGK Intermodal, the train connection offers customers on-time delivery, lower transport costs by avoiding tolls and traffic jams and a contribution to the reduction of CO2 emissions. In addition, customers can take advantage of storage options in the Duisburg Gateway West terminal.
With this step, HGK Intermodal says it wants to respond to the growing demand for sustainable and efficient transport solutions in Europe.
